Crayon Collection

The Crayon Collection mission is to inspire a commitment to environmental consciousness and the infusion of art education in underfunded schools.

Programs

Crayon Collection operates several programs to recycle & deliver crayons and teach kids many lessons about philanthropy, environmentalism and creativity.

Crayon Recycling Program

Through our Crayon Recycling Program, we establish partnerships with national restaurant and hotel chains that distribute free crayons to children when they dine. Instead of throwing these crayons away after each meal, we establish a collection process for each location and ensure these gently used crayons are donated to a local school in need.

Art Education Program

We understand it is more than just a crayon – it is a powerful tool of expression to support learning, development, creativity and imagination in the hands of young minds. So in order to supplement the free crayons we donate to Head Start Centers and Title 1 elementary schools, we invest significant resources in our Art Education program, which allows teachers to teach subjects such as reading & writing in a very creative way while staying within the standards they must teach.

Color Kindness Program

The Color Kindness Program is our newest program! We ask kids to write notes of kindness to include along with their donation of crayons. These crayons are a huge gift to the recipient children as many have never owned their own crayons before.  When they see a positive note from another child they feel connected and loved. The best part is that both the the child who wrote the note and the child who receives the note benefit immensely from this exchange.

A message from our founder

Having access to a crayon may seem natural but many of the children we work with have never owned even one crayon. By shifting the wasteful behavior of tossing still good crayons we are able to provide millions of crayons + our art education program to the most underserved schools in the United States and beyond our borders. I am determined to ensure that every child around the world has access to crayons and creativity despite their socio-economic position. We hope you enjoy taking a few moments to learn about our work and consider participating in this initiative in your community.
